I always thought I was odd, strange and not quite normal. Never interested in sport or any other social interaction, I dislike meeting new people – always struck dumb with small talk unless I am with people that I know and know well. I have poor memory recall and loath change. My psychosis is like the tide, ebbing and flowing, an ephemeral obstacle that blends the reality with the fantasy, the delusion with the factual, mixing wanton desires with normal life aspirations. I have had a great deal of time over the summer break to reflect about my artwork – the strengths, the weaknesses, goals, etc. I had a lot of success last year both academically and in the general artworld. The two awards I won was a great boost to my confidence (and ego) and my art practice and the direction in which it is traveling. Winning the awards followed by the exhibitions generated a lot of interest in where I was coming from as an artist.
